An Accredited Camp

Willoway is an ACA Accredited Camp, a member of the Midwest Association of Independent Camps (MAIC), and a member of the Camp Owners and Directors Association.

For more than five decades Willoway has proudly been a member of the American Camp Association (“ACA”).  The ACA is our most important link to the profession of children’s camping.  More importantly, it is your link to assurance about the summer camp you choose.  The mission of the ACA is to enhance the quality of the experience for youth and adults in organized camping; to promote high professional practices in camp administration; and to interpret the values of organized camping to the public.

To best promote high professional practices, ACA undertakes an exhaustive program of camp accreditation. This evaluative process assures you of our compliance with over 300 aspects of camp administration, particularly those related to program quality and the health and safety of campers and staff.  Willoway participates in triennial summer accreditation visits from the ACA.

We are proud of our accredited status in the American Camp Association.  We are equally proud to be amongst a small handful of day camps nationwide and the only day camp in Michigan affiliated with both the Midwest Association of Independent Camps (MAIC) and the Camp Owners and Directors Association (formerly known as the Association of Independent Camps).  These associations serves success oriented camp professionals who together identify emergent issues and develop programs to enhance camp.
